Jet Coast Development Trust
Jet Coast Development Trust is a ‘not for private profit ‘company limited by guarantee, based at the Gateway Business Centre in Staithes.  The company was set up by a group of local volunteers to provide a delivery mechanism for projects that aim to develop the economy of the local area.   We currently manage the Mulgrave Community Research Project, and provide an access point at the Centre for North Yorkshire Credit Union.

The area covered by JCDT is the furthest extreme of the North Yorkshire County Council and Scarborough Borough Council boundaries.  We provide a range of services to the local business community and local voluntary groups to help improve their sustainability.  We also provide a tourist information point for the benefit of the area, for which we receive no external funding.

In September 2005, JCDT took over the management of the Gateway Business Centre and agreed to manage the building on behalf of Scarborough Borough Council, and operate it on a profit share basis.

It provides seven office/workspaces and a reception area, now developed as a tourist information and sales point.  It is a local hub for business start-up activity within a range of sectors, including property management, beauty and health, music event promotion and local crafts, providing a range of positive benefits for the local economy.

The Gateway Business Centre is now a sustainable enterprise through its own income generation and will continue to provide a base for the growing range of JCDT activities.

The visitstaithes.com website, developed by JCDT, provides opportunities for local businesses to advertise to a wider audience.

Jet Coast Development Trust is now accepted as the organisation leading the renaissance of the area, and the directors and volunteers are dedicated to working with local businesses and residents to improve the outcomes and quality of life of people in Hinderwell Parish and surrounding rural areas.

HELP NEEDED!!  Could you spare a few hours a week to volunteer in reception between April and September?  Mostly to help with tourist enquiries, and selling SBC parking permits and National Park leaflets.
